Our Lady of Good Counsel will conduct the Blessing of the Animals in honor of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment. Dogs, cats, fish, mice, geckos, birds, chickens, rabbits, turtles and hamsters, oh my...are welcomed. The blessing will be at 9:00 am, Saturday October 4th and will be held at the bottom parking lot by the school. Vehicle traffic will be directed to park in the front lot and exit the back parking lot of the church. This is for the safety of our children and animals. Pet owners should bring their dogs and cats on leashes and other species should be contained/ restrained in some manner and in proper carriers.
Participants are also asked to bring a bag to clean up after their pets and to please stay off the court. For more information on the Blessing of the Animals, please call the Parish Office at 455-3012.
This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi?s love for all creatures. Francis wrote an ode to God?s living things. ?All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.?
