FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK:
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.” – Psalm 118:24
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put Him.” Yes, this could be what any normal person, going through the Passion and Death of Christ, would say, because that is what is expected of mortal beings like us. Though it all took a positive and eternal turn when Simon Peter and other disciples went into the tomb and saw no one there being buried, and they believed what Jesus spoke had come true. He has risen and won victory over death and Satan. Yes, this is a historical reality that we all believe in, and the best part of it is that we are invited to follow our Master through faith and life and no longer be mortal, but immortal.
Easter reminds us that we are redeemed people and we are new creations in Jesus our Lord and Savior. May we take this time to celebrate this new life that Jesus has won for us, giving His own very life on the cross, into the human hands to be ridiculed, tortured, and brutally killed like a criminal. May we know how blessed each one of us is that Jesus loves us so much He gave His life for us. May this new life bring a transformation and jubilation into our lives to reconcile with one another, forgive one another, and love one another. Thus, we may live the life of liberated children of God and never, ever allow Satan to have any control or grip on us. We may be brave and confident to be with Jesus, fight against evil, and be holy people of one faith and one God. May we lead lives of sacredness, focusing on the kingdom and eternal life in Jesus. As pagans remarked, seeing the early Christian’s life in Jesus, “see how they love one another”. May this become a true reality about us and our community too, as we welcome our six new baptized members at the Easter Vigil. May we all become true examples of our discipleship in Jesus.
May the Holy Spirit empower us and guide us.
May Our Lady of Good Counsel intercede for us.
Yours in Christ,
Father Santhosh Thottankara, SS.CC., Pastor
