August 29 & 30, 2020
Due to the alarming rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, new State and City and County mandates were issued. The Diocese of Honolulu has set new guidelines for Masses based on the mandates. We are unfortunately no longer allowed to sing at Mass until the mandates are lifted.
For those who are a higher risk for severe illness, the CDC recommends that you remain at home. Bishop Larry Silva has extended the dispensation from obligation to attend Mass on Sunday through the month of October. If you are at risk, please consider viewing our live stream Masses from the comfort and safety of your home.
Per new Diocese guidelines, Communion to the homebound and hospitals have been suspended and the anointing of the sick will be administered only to those in extreme danger of dying.
Please continue to practice social distancing both inside and outside of the Church and according to the State mandate, everyone must wear a mask at all times. If you have breathing difficulties which prevents the safe use of a mask, the City & County mandates that you use a face shield at the very least with a medical certification of your condition at the ready.
Although we will not deny anyone who desires to receive Communion by the tongue, we strongly strongly recommend that you receive Communion in the hand for the safety of all. During Communion please remain in your seats. The Priest, Deacon or Eucharistic Minister will come to you. Stand at your seat only if you are receiving Communion.
Please bring disinfecting wipes to clean the area where you are seated before and after Mass. Please do not leave trash or the used wipes in the church. Trash containers are available outside the church doors.
Contributions may be placed in the box marked 'Offertory'. Please go to our parish website to see the latest Stewardship report which will give you a breakdown of all donations received last week.
A first-grade teaching or assistant position is now available here at Our Lady of Good Counsel School. Please call the school office (455-4533) if you're interested in servicing our school as an elementary teacher in this first-grade teaching capacity. Any applicant must be a practicing Catholic.
Our Outreach Ministry has had to end our partnership with the Hawaii Foodbank and will be relying solely on the generosity of our community, in order to serve those who come to us in need of food assistance. We will need your support now more than ever.
Please drop off donations on Wednesdays between 8 AM and 11 AM. Thank you for allowing us to assist those in need.
A family that prays together stays together and the families of our world need prayer. The Youth and Family Ministry will be restarting the OLGC Ohana Virtual nightly Rosary beginning September 1st. This is done online and can be viewed on the Youth and Family Facebook page. You do not need a Facebook account to view and pray along. We are inviting families to sign up for a few nights to lead the Rosary. You will need a computer or smart phone with audio and video. The coordinator will connect with the leading family via Zoom and all other others may join with the prayer live on Facebook at 6:30 PM. Please contact the coordinator, Laurie Munoz, by calling the Parish office and leaving a message with your name and phone number.
Due to the new stay at home order by the State and City and County of Honolulu our offices will be closed until September 9 or until further notice. If you need assistance, please email:
office@olgcchurchpc.org or leave a voice message on our office phone, 455-3012.
