Pulpit Announcement
June 27 & 28, 2020
Due to the overwhelming response to the mail in survey and phone calls to the office, all Masses, with the exception of the Sunday 5 PM Mass, have been closed. Because so many more people wish to participate in these Masses, we have created a “standby list.” Please come to the Mass you wish to attend and sign in on the standby list with the Ushers. You will be seated and will not be turned away. Many parishioners who are on the list have not been coming, due to continued fear of the virus. If our attendance begins to fill up the Church and Pastoral Center we may be contacting those on the standby list to ask that you choose an alternate Mass.
Remember, we do continue to celebrate Masses on Monday through Friday mornings at 6:30 AM and on Saturday at 7 AM. You do not need to register to attend these Masses. Just sign in at the front door. Bishop Larry has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass to all the people of the Diocese of Honolulu and all visitors to the Diocese of Honolulu through August 31, 2020. You are not obligated to attend a Sunday Mass until September.
We strongly recommend that you receive Communion in the hand for the health safety of all. During communion, please remain at your seats. The Priest or Eucharistic ministers will come to you. Stand up at your seat only if you are receiving Communion.
Please bring your own disinfecting wipes to clean your seats before and after Mass. If you do not have any, we do have wipes available in the church. Please do not leave the wipes or any trash in your seating area. Trash containers are located in many areas outside the church..
Our OLGC Health Ministry wishes us to share an urgent message from the Blood Bank of Hawaii. They are experiencing a shortage of blood supply and need your help now. Please see the Blood Bank of Hawaii’s website for more information.
Next week there will be a second collection for Holy Father’s Peters Pence, for the many different needs of the Universal Church and for the relief of those most in need. Please be generous. Your donations for second collections may be placed in the box at the front of the church marked, “Second Collection.”
