April 26 and 27 were days full of celebratory activities for our blessed mother, Our Lady of Good Counsel. We started off the morning playing hymns of praise for Mary and sharing warm treats and coffee with our school parents as they drove through the car drop-off line. The school assembled in front of her statue to join in prayer and enjoy creative writing pieces about Mary. Various classes also shared in a potluck feast! The following day, the entire school community joined in a special procession from school to church. Students
formed a line of prayer, and our young men followed with her beautiful statue, adorned with roses. Before Mass, children, teachers, and parents were excited to offer gifts of fragrant and colorful flowers to our mother. After Mass, we were delighted to witness the talent show! The two-day event closed with the evening’s Food Truck and Craft Fair. We thank Mrs. Tsuda, Miss Rayette, and Miss Daligcon who organized the activities and we are grateful for the wonderful opportunity to recognize and honor our blessed mother!

Mother Mary, The Blessed Virgin, Queen of Heaven, Mother of God, these are just some of our beloved mother’s titles. She gets her names from different events and miracles that have happened all over the world. My favorite name Mary has is Our Lady of Good Counsel. There are also so many different symbols of the mother’s love for God and her children.
Our Lady of Good Counsel is my favorite title for her because, of the miracle that took place in 1467. In
the Alban Hills of Genazzano on the feast day of St. Mark, pilgrims were frightened by a rustling sound and melodies of sweet music. They looked up and saw a cloud slowly descending towards them. It then rested on a painting of the Blessed Mother and the Son of God on an unfinished wall of the church. ‘Till this day, the picture still rests suspended in the air. The painting was very thin, yet it lasted over five centuries. Not to mention, the fact that the church was bombed. The painting was still there untouched or marked. People have built a glass box around it for a little protection, but other than that, nothing has ever touched the picture. The painting is in the same place it was when the cloud came to the church. Mary gets this name from the story and how she is always there to offer her children good counsel, which means to guide or give advice. To me, this miracle symbolizes Mary’s unconditional love for us. No one can change how much she loves her children. Nothing will break the painting, just like it is impossible to ruin her love for us. She will always be there for me, no matter
what.
Another symbol of Mary’s love for all is the rose. Our Lady loves us so dearly that she watched her own son
die a terrible death, so that we could live eternally in heaven. To me, the rose represents devotion and undying
love. By saying yes to God, the Blessed Virgin committed herself to the Lord and every single person around
the world. Mary was around fourteen when she gave up her normal life for the sake of all sinners. Honestly, I don’t know if I could do that. I look up to Mary every day of my life. She was around my age when the young teen made the choice of a lifetime. Mary is one of the most important role models in my life, because of this devotion she has to God and everyone else.
In conclusion, Our Lady of Good Counsel is my favorite title, because of the meaning behind it. Mary has many names and titles, because there is so much about her that is good. The Blessed Virgin will always be there and love us all equally no matter what. She is a perfect role model, and I will always look up to her.
