SCHOOL NEWS: LIVING PASSION PLAY AND STATIONS OF THE CROSS. By: Kylie Canubida, Journalism Club Member
Do you know why Jesus died for our sins? He suffered, because He loves us so much. Jesus went through His passion and death out of love for us and obedience to His father.
On the last day of the third quarter, Our Lady of Good Counsel School witnessed the Stations of the Cross in living form. The sixth and seventh graders read a description of each station, acted it out and the students reflected upon it.
We envisioned the life of Jesus and watched as actors played the role of those present at each of the stations. We saw Jesus struggle with His cross and we were reminded that His cross represents our sins. At the moment Jesus dies on the cross, we all knelt and prayed in silence.
The Stations of the Cross remind students to be grateful for what Jesus has done for us. As we depart on our Spring Break, we reverently acknowledge our sins in this season of Lent, ask for forgiveness and look forward with joy to the resurrection on Easter Sunday.
