SCHOOL NEWS - OLGC SCHOOL ALUMNUS ANDREW ANCHETA II
My name is Andrew Ancheta II. I attended Our Lady of Good Counsel school from preschool three to the eighth grade and graduated in the year 2013. Having spent eleven years of my life at OLGC school I can confidently say I would not have attended any other institution for my elementary education. Words cannot convey the pride and gratitude I have for Our Lady of Good Counsel school; the positive and family oriented environment played a pivotal role in my development as a catholic individual. It was here where I read and analyzed the Word of God, but more importantly it was here where I learned to translate those words into actions.
My years at OLGC school were filled with many unforgettable memories and faces which I continue to carry within my thoughts and heart. In addition, many of the experiences and events still continue to exist among the abundant thoughts within my conscience. Who could ever forget the numerous seasonal performances and recitals, or the excitement of Catholic Schools Week, or simply the camaraderie of classmates and teachers within a classroom. The dynamic between OLGC students and teachers is very special; I always felt safe with my teachers and confidently believed they wanted only the best for me and my classmates. As every year of instruction passed school became more challenging, however, the amount of support also grew with each passing year. The support, teachings, and experiences which I gained at OLGC worked in the success of my high school career and in my current college career. In fact, there is one particular lesson from OLGC which formed my list of personal values, beliefs, and motives; as social beings, we do not live in isolation of each other. Thus, it is crucial for us to recognize issues and approach them with proper means. OLGC introduced me to working for social justice in order to meet the needs of our less fortunate brothers and sisters. OLGC taught me to take the initiative to go and make a difference. OLGC showed me that with God anything is possible.
