STEWARDSHIP CORNER - A FAMILY OF VOLUNTEERS
By: Bernadette V. Cabe, Stewardship Committee Chairperson
An interview with Nora Salvador…
How long have you & Rudy been parishioners of OLGC?
We have been parishioners of OLGC since 1970 (47 years).
Both you & Rudy are known to come to church daily very early in the morning. Rudy opens the church Monday through Saturday to do the following: checks the altar candles for oil and refills as needed; gets the lector books ready; checks the microphones used by the priest and the lector; checks and empties burned-out candles located by the confessional; replenishes supplies as needed in the sacristy; empties trash in the sacristy and courtyard when necessary and helps change altar linen to match liturgical colors.
I set-up the credence table for the sacred vessels; set-up the vessels, hosts, water, purificator and other items needed for
communion; and sweep the altar and some areas of the church.
What ministries do you & Rudy belong to?
Rudy is a member of the following ministries: Lector, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC), Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (PABS), RCIA, Maintenance, Filipino Ministry and Prison Ministry. I belong in the following ministries: PABS, EMHC and Prison Ministry.
Are any members of your family serve in ministries?
Our daughter, Sheri, serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Our granddaughter, Emi, is an Altar Server. Our son, Darryl, who attends Resurrection of Our Lord Church serves in the following ministries: Lector, EMHC and leads the Stewardship & Evangelization; Parish Pastoral Council; co-leader for Stephen Ministry; Greeter, That Man is You (TMIY) and Worldwide Marriage (WWME) Encounter presenting team couple. Our daughter-in-law, Diana, belongs to Hospitality Ministry as a Leader, Greeter, Stephen Ministry and WWME.
What motivates you both to share your time & talents to our Parish? As Catholics we are called by God to serve Him and the Parish community. We volunteer to thank God for all He has given us. Giving back these gifts to God and the community is the right thing to do. We are all stewards of these gifts which are to be shared to others. God gave us these gifts for a purpose. Let us act responsibly by taking good care of these gifts and by sharing them generously. You will be surprised by the rewards you will receive in return.
