our Lady of Good Counsel School's May Day performance and luau are right around the corner! In Hawaii, May Day is known as Lei Day, and it is normally an event to celebrate Hawaiian culture. As a Catholic school, we are delighted to extend this event by recognizing May as the month to honor all mothers. The school will continue its annual tradition of honoring the patron saint of mothers, Mary, Mother of God!
We begin the program with crowning Mary and offering songs, lei, and flowers for Mary. We follow with hula performances by our classes and the Royal Court! Each song will celebrate the Hawaiian culture and beauty of our islands. This year, students are blessed to learn their dances from volunteers from our Church and school community.
All are invited to come and enjoy this joyful celebration! The school grounds will be decorated with colorful flowers and greenery, and together with the garden backdrop, it
will make a beautiful event.
The OLGC School May Day crowning of Mary and hula performances is scheduled
for Friday, May 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and the luau with the Royal Court will be in the
