The girls’ basketball teams have had a great season so far, currently positioned at two wins and two losses. The final two games are 23 and 24 April (St. Theresa’s and St.Elizabeth’s) and we wish our girls all the very best for the continuation of a successful season. They will be preparing for tournaments in May following this busy schedule. Go Mustangs!
Achievements in Literature
The OLGC students have received many notable awards for
poetry this year! Colby Macapagal won first place for Eighth Grade in the 19th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Poetry Contest.
Cameron Cooper was the second place recipient of the prestigious award which will be presented by Governor Ige in June. They will both be required to recite their poems in front of an audience at this reception.
Well done, gentlemen. Colby Macapagal and Prescilla Pascua will be featured in next year’s Board of Water Supply calendar for their excellent poetry. Both poems were on the theme of water conservation and the poetry was mature, thoughtful and relevant to our society. Congratulations on your publication!
Prescilla Pascua was also the winner of another poetry competition hosted by the Parents and Children Together organization. Prescilla’s beautiful poem offered stunning sentiment regarding togetherness, love and sacred bonds and she thoroughly deserves this accolade. Wonderful work, Prescilla.
Each year, Appelley Publishers conducts a ‘Rising Stars’ award nationwide. Colby Macapagal’s poem ‘Sauces’ received a commendation from this esteemed publisher and he was awarded a cash prize. Congratulations, Colby on your three prizes for poetry this year. You may very well be the next Robert Frost! Keep up the great work.
We thank our teachers for preparing the students for these awards and instructing them so well in our English language.
