on 18 December, 1958. His father is Raymond Lamb Sr. (deceased) and his mother is Glenda Lamb who currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He is the oldest of three boys that God blessed his parents with. Ray’s father was in the US Air Force so he spent most of his early years traveling the world with his family. After graduating High School in Stuttgart, Germany, Ray went to college, graduated and joined the US Army where he faithfully served his country for 30 years and retired as a Colonel in 2010.
Ray now does occasional contract work with the Department of the Navy. During Ray’s career, he was transferred all over the world. The last move was to Hawaii and is now the place that the Lambs call home. Why … nowhere in the world have they found such an extraordinary group of loving people.
Ray met Tyra (Washington) Lamb in Fort Worth, Texas in 1981. They fell in love and four months later they were married. You could say that they each knew what they wanted in a spouse and it didn’t take long for them to determine that they found it in each other. Thirty-six years later they are still going strong, thanks be to God, for without Him it would not have been possible!
Tyra is a career Licensed Social Worker having worked in nearly every field of social work for over 30 years. She is currently the U.S. Army’s Pacific Region Lead (supervisor) for several programs to include Domestic Abuse and Victim
Advocacy. Her area of expertise includes Child Abuse prevention, working with families with special needs and working with new parents. Ray and Tyra have been blessed with 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
When Ray and Tyra were approached by their parish priest in 2012 and asked if they would consider entering the deaconate formation process, the answer was a resounding “yes”. The ability to serve God and the Catholic community in ministry has been a constant calling in Ray’s life. Apparently God was not ready for that to happen until he returned to Hawaii and retired. God has accomplished this work and Ray was ordained on January 18, 2018. Ray and Tyra are excited about serving the people of Our Lady of Good Council to the best of their ability and ask for your continued prayers and encouragement as they join their new community of faith.
