Let me start out by saying that I am a proud product of Our Lady of Good Counsel School (“OLGCS”). However, since I am one of the “senior” alumnus sharing my experiences, I think that an insight as to my perspective might be a little interesting.
Do you sometimes wonder who upkeeps and maintains the beautiful and colorful garden in the church surroundings including the plants, shrubs and the grass areas? These are some of the volunteers who work relentlessly, rain or shine, to make all this possible. Although they don’t have an official ministry of their own, they take it upon themselves to ensure the church grounds are properly maintained and the flowers, plants and shrubs are well taken care of. Let us thank all these hardworking volunteers who generously share their time, talent and treasure in beautifying OLGC’s surroundings!
SCHOOL NEWS, LIFELONG LEARNERS Our Lady of Good Counsel Students are lifelong learners who read for enjoyment and learning, demonstrate basic knowledge in all subjects, and use study, research, and technology skills. OLGC School recognizes physical education and gardening as important subjects which also require the lifelong learning skills. Ms. Donna Daligcon has been the school’s physical education teacher for over 25 years and she’s always applied a challenging curriculum for students to learn physical education (PE). Lectors assist the priest celebrant in proclaiming the Word of God during the celebration of the Mass and other liturgical celebrations. The Lector Ministry is currently comprised of 30 proclaimers. Generally we are assigned to proclaim the Word of God at one of the five weekly Masses, usually at the time we regularly attend Mass. Parishioners with all sacraments intact that have a desire to proclaim the Word of God, need to fill out an application and be interviewed and endorsed by the Pastor. Once that is completed, training and resource material will be issued
