OLGC Outreach Ministry-Food Pantry By Bernadette Cabe
OLGC’s Outreach Ministry has been serving needy individuals and families for over a decade. From January 2014 to present, the Ministry of 15 caring and dedicated volunteers has served approximately 600 individuals from the Pearl City and its surrounding communities.
Parishioners, public school organizations, businesses and Aloha Harvest donate food items regularly to OLGC Food Pantry. During the holidays, the Pantry distributes food vouchers and certificates donated by parishioners and a local supermarket. Another food source of OLGC is the Hawaii Food Bank which receives public assistance entitlements from the U.S Department of Agriculture to aid families and individuals in need.
Donations of canned foods, cereals, snacks, toiletries, and baby formula are always welcomed. The OLGC Food Pantry is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to include students who need credit for community service.
If you or someone you know needs food, please register with OLGC Food Pantry/Outreach Ministry located on 1525 Waimano Home Road, Pearl City or call 455-3012. Request for help and related information will be handled confidentially and privately.
